Making Rocking Chair Tie Pillow

Traditional Rocking Chair

A rocking chair is a comfortable addition to any room – not it has a hard wooden seat. Do not worry. If you have a braid, wood or even plastic rocker with a hard seat, there is a simple solution. Rocking pillows are easy to clean and clean, and the materials are not expensive.

Measure the length and width of your rocking chair seat. You can also put newsprint or butcher paper on the seat and track it. Add 2 inches to each measurement, or around the outside of your tracking. Fold the fabric so that the printed sides are turned in. Cut out your shape, plus 2 inches. Cut three 8 inch wide strips of fabric for the front and side loops. They should be as long as you’re front and sides, plus half. For example, if the front of your rocking chair is 18 inches above, cut a strip of fabric that is 27 inches (18 + 9) over. If the sides of the chair are 10 inches, the two sides make 15 inches each.
Fold your 8 inch wide strips of fabric in half along the right side to the right. Push them flat with the iron. Sew them closed along the short sides. Turn them straight and push them. Gently push the fabric along the seams against the knot until it collects a groove. Repeat for the other two strips. Place a piece of your fabric on a flat surface, with the printed side facing up. Play with the gathering until the voyager fits evenly along the front and sides of the chair fabric. Pin the voyager in place with straight sticks.
Cut grosgrain strips into four 12-inch lengths and fold them in the middle. Secure the folded ends at each corner of the fabric cushion with straight pins. Make sure the loose ends slip in the middle of the fabric, do not hang out. Put the second piece of fabric down on the top of the first part, the voyager and the band. Match all edges. Squeeze it into place with straight pins. Turn the fabric straight out. You should have an open cushion cover with voyager on three sides and tie on all four corners. It matters with poly fiberfill. Fold the open edge for as much as you want, and sew it closed. Attach the pad to the rocking chair with tire straps.
